Acupuncture

Acupuncture needles are thinner than human hair! You may not even feel them during treatment. Every needle you will ever come in contact with is sterilized and pre-packaged. Different people have different reactions to acupuncture: some find it relaxing and calming while others find it energizing. It depends on the points utilized for your individualized treatments!

Cupping

Remember when Michael Phelps came out of the water with those red circular marks on his back? He had just received cupping to alleviate pain, inflammation, and promote blood flow! It involves a small amount of heat placed in a glass cup, then quickly turned over and placed onto the area of interest. The cooling air inside the cup causes a suction effect that sucks up skin and muscle. After a few minutes, the cups are removed and the muscles relax. You may be left with some red marks but do not worry! They will disappear in 2-3 days. While we may not be preparing for an olympic dive, we all can benefit from the ancient and yet effective practice. Though it is "trendy" now, cupping has been in use since nearly 1550 B.C.

Hot Stone Gua Sha and Massage

Gua Sha involves repeated massaging with a heated stone tool. This, in turn, circulates bloodflow and massages deep tissue. The effects? A relief of chronic pain, less migraines, and less overall discomfort! Studies have even shown repeated Gua Sha may create heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) AKA an enzyme in our bodies that can help reduce inflammation!

Massage in general has therapeutic properties for the mind AND body.
